Intensifying the Attack on Serrated Tussock

The Victorian Serrated Tussock Working Party (VSTWP) in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries has been delevering programs in line with the Victorian Serrated Tussock Strategy, "Intensifying the Attack on Serrated Tussock 2005-2010". Continuing hard work by landowners in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and the VSTWP has meant that the goals of the strategy are well under way to being realised.

Throwing The Book At Serrated Tussock

An important new tool to help landholders and managers control serrated tussock is now available. The ‘National Serrated Tussock Best Practice Management Manual’ was launched in Victoria on Friday the 28th November 2008 attracting over 50 landholders and key stakeholders to the private property located in Bacchus Marsh.

Serrated tussock - infestation to inferno

Infestations of the weed of national significance, Serrated Tussock (Nassella trichotoma), have the potential to become an inferno this summer. This is a new threat from the weed that already causes major problems for farmers by reducing stock carrying capacity and to the environment by reducing grassland biodiversity.

Herbicide resistance confirmed in Rowsley Valley

Victorian land managers controlling serrated tussock (Nassella trichotoma) face a new threat - herbicide resistance. Populations of resistant plants have been found at several locations in Victoria and New South Wales.
